In addition to using sophisticated tools to parse and search the data, the University also conducted a manual review of each and every file. As part of that effort, the University initiated a process to conduct a careful inspection of each and every file to determine what information was potentially affected in order to be able to provide accurate information and to give notice to each University community member whose personal information was impacted. Chuck Campbell of the Knoxville News Sentinel stating that Strangeland features "songs are more complex, their messages more complicated and the sonic nuance saturated in emphatic shine", praising producer Dan Grech-Marguerat for "giving balance to the drama and letting melody and message envelop the listeners and carry them away." Sputnikmusic gave the album three and a half stars out of five, commenting that while "there is nothing overtly impressive going on in the instrumental department here (or on the entire album)", Strangeland had "varied song structures, interesting lyrical concepts, and a cohesive feel", concluding that it "is a good but not great album that will be enjoyed by fans of classic Keane." At Metacritic, which assigns a normalised rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 60 based on 17 reviews, which indicates "mixed or average reviews". Tom Chaplin also said the sound of the album is reminiscent of earlier Keane, calling Perfect Symmetry "a bit self-indulgent". He'd also done stuff with Radiohead and produced the second Howling Bells album, which I loved." Ĭompared to Keane's previous full-length studio album Perfect Symmetry (2008), the album focuses more on songwriting: "We wanted it be less production led and focus on making sure that the songs were great. According to Rice-Oxley, the album is inspired by The Vaccines' album What Did You Expect from the Vaccines? The producer said the band wanted to " back to the songwriting of their first two albums", while making an album that sounded "rich and simpler". In May 2011 the band met up with English producer Dan Grech-Marguerat, who according to Tim Rice-Oxley is "a massive Keane fan". Keane began working on demo tracks for Strangeland in 2010. The company previously said it expects to deal with “unprecedented increases” in food prices, saying that the costs of its ingredients are up 8% to 10% compared to last year. The chain recently announced changes to its chicken wings deal, including cutting servings from 10 pieces to just eight as costs soar. Inflation is taking a bite out of Domino’s. Last month, Domino’s incentivized customers to choose carryout with a $3 credit for use on future online pickup orders. The $5.99 price point will remain for carryout orders because they cost the company less since they don’t require delivery drivers, who are hard to find in a tight labor market. Some of the other options currently on the menu are medium 2-topping pizza, bread twists, salads and marbled cookie brownies. “We believe that $6.99 is still a great relative value for our delivery customers, offering variety, great taste and a competitive price while also reflecting the increased costs inherent in a delivery order,” Domino’s CEO Ritch Allison said on an investor call Tuesday.ĭomino’s also is expanding the items available in the deal, including the addition of 32-piece parmesan bread bites, 6-piece wings and 3-piece chocolate lava cakes. Domino’s said the price, which won’t change for carryout purchases, takes effect March 14. The pizza chain announced that its “Mix and Match” deal, which lets customers choose two or more items for $5.99 each, will soon cost $1 more each for delivery orders. Domino’s is raising the price on one of its top promotions. It just happened, and it happened despite the fact that I knew on an intellectual level that the people in the audience were strangers to DelGaudio, and he to them, that they would probably never see each other again, and that the “connection” I found so moving was all based on physical and emotional manipulations. It wasn’t something I had to analyze or think about or ponder. More to the point for most of us, how do you respond when you see this happen to someone else? Some will be left cold, but my answer is also common: It moved me to tears. How do you react when a letter pulled from a cubbyhole on a New York City stage by a magician you’ve never met before transforms into a heartfelt personal note from a loved one with details only the two of you could possibly know? How do you react as an audience member when this man approaches you, stares at you for a few moments and identifies you in a word as you have identified yourself, as though seeing into your soul in exactly the way you hoped someone might? There are a few levels of experience inherent to what DelGaudio has created in the Hulu adaptation of his stage show, and the first is visceral. You already know enough, and if you’re at all in tune with the streaming world, you’ve probably heard plenty (positive and negative, perhaps) to intrigue you. I’ll also relate the same very good advice that was given to me-see it without foreknowledge, and with as few preconceptions as possible. If you haven’t yet seen In & Of Itself, I’ll warn you that spoilers lie ahead, and that what follows is best read from a place of familiarity anyway. Second, and most important, is the implication that the reality constructed for human beings-the things we “see”-are in fact a distortion which brings us away from, not closer to, the truth. First, there is the ambiguity, a hallmark of most magicians and a quality that DelGaudio uniquely extends into the emotional realm on both page and stage. In more than one respect, the biblical koan is perfect for both works. This is the quote Derek DelGaudio uses as an epigraph in his book Amoralman, a memoir published this year with impeccable timing, coinciding with the Hulu release of In & Of Itself, the film adaptation of his long-running stage show. When work began on The Princess and the Frog, Disney tried to get the animators to draw in the same software that the ink and paint department was using but after trying it the animators said “Animation is hard enough without making us use this software. That was the first big test for our new Mac version because up until then everything had been done on PCs. Then Film Roman started using FlipBook on The Simpsons Movie. When Universal Studios start work on Curious George they had animators working all over the country so FlipBook made it easier for them to all submit their pencil test videos for review and approval before sending in the final drawings. FlipBook was particularly helpful in matching all of the pencil drawings to the live action backgrounds. When they got there they asked WB to get FlipBook for them to use. After that many of the animators went to work on Looney Tunes Back in Action for Warner Bros. DigiCel is one of the leading providers of 2D animation software to students and professional animators because FlipBook does what animators need better than any other program. The animators loved it so they used it on Rugrats Go Wild. Klasky-Csupo was the first studio to pick up FlipBook during production of The Wild Thornberrys. So DigiCel FlipBook was designed from the ground up for studios, schools, teachers and students who want to follow the traditional animation process. In Outward, death can cost you everything. Exploration mostly just gets you killed when you see an enemy, and you have to make sure every chance you get you’re upgrading your pack or you won’t be able to carry enough to complete quests, let alone have the stuff to sell for some extra scratch (which also has weight to it).Ya know i been playing and all these forms i havent herd from the devs. The way navigating the world using a map would be great if you were holding the map in a first-person view and looking around, but it’s a separate screen, so you have to switch between looking at the angle of the landmark and then the map, and so on and so forth. Its time to discover The Good Night Train. This led to a lot of exploration and failing that aforementioned first quest That is why we decided to put traveling by night train back on the map. The world is extremely vast and I never managed to find a way to do more than try to figure out where I was on the map with a landmark. I feel this is the best way to describe the difficulty and consequences experienced while playing. Outward’s challenge starts right off the bat with a timed quest and a lot of different ways you can accomplish it. While I did struggle with Outward, given my limited amount of experience with survival games, I could really appreciate what it was trying to do. The environments for this are absolutely stunning, but the characters look awful and the controls immediately remind you this was built in Unity. He was said to create darkness with his mists or “veils of night”, and these would be burned off by Hemera every day to bring about the dawn. Another child of Erebus and Nyx was Hypnos (sleep), which he was closely associated with.Īlthough his association with darkness might make Erebus sound ominous, he was considered by ancient Greeks to be a non-threatening force existing harmoniously with light, as its founding father. Erebus was still there in waiting, reappearing to create night, or pockets of shadow during the day, and it is said he had his own lair in the far western edge of the world, where the sun set. Hemera pushed her parents away to the outer edges of the universe. Along with her brother Aether, Hemera spread the first light across the sky. Next, they birthed Hemera, the goddess of the day. Their first child was Aether, the god of light and air, who filled the space between the primordial gods Uranus (heaven) and Gaea (earth). Together, Erebus and Nyx made more primordial deities that came to found the universe. In the beginning of Greek mythology, Erebus wrapped the newly formed universe in complete darkness, before beginning to introduce elements of light, air and life.Įrebus and Nyx Had Several Children Who Breathed Life into the Universe Bertel Thorvaldsen, Nyx (Night), roundel, 1900, image courtesy of the V&A Museum, London In many myths, Erebus and Nyx were inseparable, complementing one another in their mysterious, shady activities. Erebus was the personification of deep darkness, where no light was allowed in. Primordial gods differed from the later Greek deities, as they had no human form, instead existing as a spiritual mass of swirling energy. Their brothers and sisters included Gaea (earth), Uranus (heaven), Tartarus (underworld) and Eros (love). These primordial gods were born in complementing pairs, and Erebus emerged at the same time as his sister Nyx, the goddess of night.
